Giovanni Renovation

A renovation contractor whose old site had gone dark. His work sells itself in person. The site needed to do the same thing for people who hadn't met him yet.

The Problem

Giovanni's previous site was defunct. For a contractor that's worse than having no site at all: the domain was his, the reputation was already there, and anyone who went looking found nothing that backed it up. His edge is the quality of the finished work, the kind of thing people choose with their eyes, and none of it was visible online.

The Approach

We scoped it in person, sat down together and worked through what the site actually had to do. The answer wasn't a brochure. It was a portfolio. If the work is the reason people hire him, then the work is the site, and everything else gets out of its way.

Fast to launch, but not rushed. A few weeks from that first conversation to live, with the time going into how the projects are presented rather than into shipping something quickly and calling it done.

What I Built

  • A new site on Giovanni's own domain, replacing the defunct one, so the address people already associate with him finally resolves to something worth landing on
  • Five pages built around how people actually decide: About Us for the track record, Services split into residential and commercial renovations with its own page for each, individual write-ups for finished Projects, a photo-heavy Portfolio for browsing the work directly, and Contact Us for the first conversation
  • A presentation built around photography, since the whole pitch is how the work looks when it's done
  • Built on WordPress so new project photos can go up as jobs finish, without waiting on a developer
